Google chrome is already known for it’s speed, be it load time of browser or load time of Web pages. Usually most of the users are satisfied with it’s performance in terms of speed and response time and there is no need to further enhance it. But if you can further increase the speed by removing the features which a normal user like you does not need, then there is no harm in trying and doing so.
These tips as mentioned here are applicable for everyone but if you think that you do not need these things or need some of them you can choose which one to apply as per your needs.
Tip #1 Clean-up browser
All browsers including Google chrome gather a lot of temporary files and builds a cache of your recently visited sites, this increase speed of loading sites next time you visit them. But if you visit lots of different websites daily and do not revisit them, this strategy actually consumes a lot of resources and slow down performance of Google chrome as well as Page load time.

Chrome Under the Hood settings
Cleaning Browsing history and cache at regular interval is a good option in such cases. But if you visit only a handful of sites regularly and other sites are visited rarely, then you should not clear your browsing history and cache.
To remove Browsing data and cache, go to Option > Under the hood > and hit ‘Clear Browsing data” button.
Tip #2 Disable Useless function using Launch Command -
Google chrome comes with many functions which can be disabled by simply editing your launch command or Shortcut which you use to launch the Chrome. many of these function are rarely used by anybody in daily browsing, So it is always safe to disable them.
To modify launch command simply right click on Chrome Shortcut (you use to launch Chrome) and select properties. In The field target path of Google chrome you can put these commands at the end of Path to exe file. Here is a big list of such commands -

DIsable Command Options in Google Chrome
-disable-java - Java based sites are absolute these days and they decrease the web load time by a great margin. Don;t confuse here with java script, because java script is still used on most of pages and we are not disabling javascript.
-disable-javascript - Though JavaScript is used in many pages these days but they are mostly for tracking or ad serving codes, some sites uses them for advanced navigation option. You can disable it and then try visiting your most frequent pages to see if any of those are affected. Most of spyware are also delivered using JavaScript snippets. We do not recommend using it unless you are sure that you need this.
-disable-image - it will disable loading of images in all pages, this increase page load speed by up to 10 times as most of the sites these days use images for everything. But your web pages start looking awkward Good for those who are still using good old dial-up connection.
-disable-logging - This option is must for every user, we hardly need log files created by Google chrome, this will not only boost Chrome’s speed but also save your hard disk and other system resources.
-disable-dev-tools - This will disable many developers tool, these tools are designed only for advanced users and are never needed for normal browsing.
Tip #3 Disable Pop-Up windows
Pop up in most of the sites are designed to serve ads, they hardly serve any useful purpose. Pop ups are designed is such a way that they distract you from normal browsing and sometime they are very annoying as well.
To disable Pop-ups Click on Chrome Control button at top right corner then Option now click on Under the Hood option and select Content Settings, You can find here Pop-ups settings. Select Do not allow and disable all unwanted pop-ups.
For sites which serve useful information or functionality through popup, you can add them in exception to allow popup using same window.
Tip #4 Disable DNS Preload in Google Chrome
This will prevent Google chrome to keep DNS info in their cache. Most of time it is unnecessary if you have a good connection of at least 256kbps or more. It is recommended only for slow dial up connection or Mobile users who actually spend a lot f time in DNS query during browsing. To disable this you have to go Options > Under the Hood > Privacy – There are 2 checkboxes one says ‘Use a web service to help resolve navigational errors’ and second is ‘ use a prediction service to help complete searches and URL’s typed in address bar’.
You can disable both option or any one of them, first one is used only if you make a mistake while typing any URL while other one is activated by default everytime you start typing a URL.
Tip #5 Use Adblock Plus Extension
All of the sites these days use one or other type of ads to make revenue out of their site, I am sure no one wants to see ads but for webmaster (including me) there is no other option to make money. But if you don;t like ads you can always disable them by using Chrome’s extension like Ad-block, It removes all kinds of ads from web pages and serve the site without ads. This also improves page load time by many times.
Tip #6 – Regularly update Google Chrome
Google has inbuilt updater which keep running in background and silently update your browser if a new update is available. Keeping your software updated all the times is a good thing, though Google update takes care of that but still you should keep checking that you have latest version.
